Open Megaman RP Post

This is an open post for random Megaman shenanigans!!!!

[This is so weird. And a little nerve-wracking, to be completely honest. Sorting out this ping isn't as easy as the last one, but still much better than most of what he was getting earlier; he can at least sort out that it's asking something about the city, even if the exact request doesn't line up to anything he can understand. The other is just another jumble of meaningless data, but at least it seems to be getting closer to coherent communication--

--oh. Is that...it wants him to introduce himself? Is that it? That's...unexpected, but. It makes sense. He doesn't even have to think about it - he pops off his ID string immediately, and after a couple of seconds (and a check to make sure nobody's watching):]

I, uh...I'm Megaman.

[Talking verbally to nothing feels even weirder than talking via data pings to nothing, but it's worth a shot. Maybe doing that will convince it to show itself.

After a bit, he tries pinging with just a bare query context data. Maybe he can get it to introduce itself back...]

[personal profile] copychip 2015-08-15 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
[He almost starts when a voice comes through his headset-- young, and entirely unfamiliar. A bit of data follows, but like the string of data before the voice, it's incomprehensible, so he ignores it. He presses his hand to the side of his helmet -- reflex -- and after a moment's of hesitation, he decides it can't hurt to try to communicate by voice.]

Uh, hey there Megaman. Thanks for answering my pings.

[There's a brief, awkward pause as the Reploid tries to figure out what to say next.]

So, uh, you said this place is called DenTech City? What are its coordinates? [He'll figure out how to phrase the rest of his questions after.]

[personal profile] megabytes 2015-08-15 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. No problem.

[Now that he's got a voice to work with this...okay, it still feels weird. just slightly less weird. Maybe.]

Coordinates...? Um. Just a sec. [GPS coordinates? Strange, but, okay. He can get that information no problem, and sends it off via ping on instinct.] I...can you understand that?
copychip: (❤ thinking)

[personal profile] copychip 2015-08-15 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I got that... [GPS coordinates are GPS coordinates. Except.... when he cross checks it with his own data of the world, the location pops up as an entirely deserted-- no, irradiated area that was inhabitable for humans.]

...actually, maybe I don't. Isn't that area still heavy with radioactivity? I thought it was still inhabitable for humans.

[personal profile] megabytes 2015-08-15 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
What? That...no, of course not! [If he sounds absolutely horrified by that idea, well. That's because he is.] Why would you even think that?

[He's absolutely pulling up a separate channel to the PET so he can talk to Lan without this...whatever hearing. Dad needs to know about this and he needs to know now.]
copychip: Drawn by <user name="skybuns"> (❤ uh oh)

[personal profile] copychip 2015-08-15 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
Why wouldn't I think that? The world's still suffering from the Earth Crisis! The surface's only recently become habitable for humans, hasn't it? This DenTech City place is a complete anomaly in location, buildings and services, population... everything! Hell, it even has a huge network! That's just asking to get wrecked by the Virus.

[He was beginning to get a sinking feeling about the whole situation...]

Man if you tell me I was somehow teleported back in time by that Maverick's move I think I'm gonna have to break something.

[That was a joke but now that he gives it a little more thought, it sounds more plausible than he's comfortable with.]

...it is 22XX, right?
megabytes: (pic#8834805)

[personal profile] megabytes 2015-08-15 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
[He's quiet through that whole little...rant. None of what he's saying makes any sense. It sounds more like something out of a movie than something that someone could actually believe. Especially whatever he meant about a virus - as if anyone could make a virus that a navi wouldn't be able to handle.

This is starting to get really, really creepy.]

No. It's 20XX.

["Lan! We have an emergency!"]
copychip: (♦ 4koma: what am i supposed to do with t)

[personal profile] copychip 2015-08-15 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
[There's a long moment of silence as Axl comprehends Megaman's reply and realizes it's not a joke. How was he supposed to respond to that? How did he even get to 20XX? What about X and Zero, they needed him to be around.

Now would be a good time to have a meltdown, except he was a Hunter, Hunters didn't have meltdowns. So he just sighs, very loudly, pressing the palm of his hand against his head crystal.
]

Okay, sweet. I'm in the past with a whole bunch of humans and zero Reploids, and I have no idea how I got here. Iiiii'm not gonna tempt fate by saying something about it possibly being worse. [Except saying that was totally tempting fate, but he didn't care. Fate could go screw itself as far as he was concerned right now.]

You wouldn't happen to know anyone that could help me with this, wouldja?

It's like a high school reunion except with 200% more formerly dead people

[personal profile] missedtheflag 2015-11-12 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
[He wasn't expecting to ever wake again after the Palace crumbled around his damaged, dying body. That had been the end of the line for him, and he'd accepted that. It wouldn't make up for what he did, but at least it would give the Hunters some peace of mind.

And maybe, it would urge Axl to move on. There was no future for a band of infected Reploids.

Coming online after accepting your death was an odd sensation. He had let the start up run for about a minute before coming to the sudden realization that this shouldn't be happening, and opened his good eye to find himself staring through a capsule at an unfamiliar ceiling. Once his systems had confirmed that his frame, joints and pistons were functional he'd got up from the capsule in search for answers.

And that led him to surprise number two of the day. There had been a capsule like his sitting a few feet to the left. It held, to his immense surprise, someone he thought he'd never see again, not after the Repliforce incident decades ago.

Iris.

She was every bit as beautiful as he remembered, her expression serene as she lay slumbering in the capsule, unaware of her new lease on life. A glance to the monitor next to the capsule told him she was about to wake at any moment.

So he settled against the wall next to the pod, waiting for his former comrade to rise from her sleep.

[It wasn't much longer before long, dark lashes fluttered as she opened her eyes, code running across green eyes as programs booted up for the first time in years. The condition she'd been left in had required a physical update, though they kept to her original build in terms of aesthetic; armour had required a redesign to account for advances, and had as a result changed in style though the palette remained.

It was strange. Dissonant. Hadn't she just been with Zero? It seemed like she'd only just closed her eyes... but her mind was so much clearer than it'd been. Running a scan as she sat up, the report was baffling. The year was all wrong--decades later, and her core programming read... independent?]

What's going on?

[Her voice was small, confused, and as she looked down at herself, she thought that perhaps she understood: she'd been salvaged, but left as herself. Someone must have patched her programming to allow her to exist in a stable state without her brother, but... Oh, no. Colonel. What about Colonel? Had he been salvaged, too?

Looking around didn't bring to her attention her brother's presence, but that of another. He was familiar, and yet she couldn't immediately place him. Fortunately her logs were left in tact, so she started running through all the profiles she'd collected in an effort to identify him.]

missedtheflag: (grinning)

[personal profile] missedtheflag 2015-11-29 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
[He stayed silent, watching her run through her boot process, realize what had happened, that she shouldn't be here, that things were a little different. It had to be jarring, especially given the circumstances of her deactivation. He didn't know what happened exactly, but he knew a Hunter took her down. The Hunters she once worked with, years before the Repliforce incident.

He inclined his head when her attention turned to him and saw the frown on her face but the faint recognition in her eyes. He had expected as much, and his lips drew into a faint grin.
]

Good morning, sleeping beauty. Didn't expect to wake again, did you?
surestcompassion: (oh!)

[personal profile] surestcompassion 2015-11-29 08:53 am (UTC)(link)
[She ran farther through and--his name was "Red", and more information about him fell into place. And oh! Oh, she knew him, if just in passing, and she smiled faintly, a little bemused.]

I can't say I ever did, no.

[Not with the circumstances of her death. But with delicate movement, she lifted herself out of the capsule. And as she moved, she noticed the differences, how much lighter she felt, how different her balance was--and she hadn't managed the time to account for it, so her first step was unsteady, unprepared.

Might wanna catch her.]
missedtheflag: (:o)

[personal profile] missedtheflag 2015-11-30 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
[He wasn't expecting her to stumble, but his reflexes are still lightning quick and he moves to catch her by the shoulders.]

You okay there?

[At a closer inspection, there were differences between the design he remembered and her current appearance. Given that her original body was likely destroyed beyond repair, whoever rebuilt her must have seen it fit to change things a little, and likely upgrade her parts.

He gently sets her back upright and takes a step back to give her room.
]
surestcompassion: (longing)

[personal profile] surestcompassion 2015-12-07 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh. She reached back to try and make use of the capsule, as well, but Red was faster. As she was set back upright, Iris made sure to set a hand on the lip of the capsule anyway to at least keep her upright as her systems calibrated the changes.]

I think so. I hadn't expected that much of a difference, though; thank you.

[A bright smile, if a little unsure, accompanied those words. Marvelling a little at the situation, she suddenly sort of... paused. Oh. The circumstances of her death, her brother, Zero, Repliforce--

Enough to make her head swim. Her expression fell, but instead of outwardly panicking, she reached out to try and grab onto a network to allow her access to newsfeeds, instead.]
missedtheflag: (default)

[personal profile] missedtheflag 2016-05-02 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
[He quirks the ends of his lips up in reply. A small, but gentle smile.]

'Welcome.

[She accesses a network easily, but the newsfeeds she pull up -- none of it is familiar. It's been too many years since her deactivation, and the world has moved on from Repliforce. If she searches older news, she'll figure out the disaster that happened shortly after Repliforce was disbanded, the Earth Crisis. If she looks at the more recent news, she'll find a report on Sigma's (hopefully final) defeat a scant few weeks ago, followed by news of the copy chip's danger.

Meanwhile, Red watched Iris carefully, having not yet come upon the idea of checking on world news.

TIME 2 SUFFER each other's company you two

[personal profile] earthbreaking 2016-05-30 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[ in hindsight? chasing a lone challenger (who'd had the gall to lose his nerve halfway into a battle in which Forte had been taken an bit of damage while trouncing him, and ran away before Forte could finish off matters by deleting the coward) this deep into a no jack-out zone had... not been one of the greatest decisions he'd ever made. he'd caught up to the other Netnavi and deleted him yes, that had held some degree of satisfaction.

but that had only lasted as it took him to realize the scum had managed to run straight into a maze of auto-jump traps, links that threw Netnavis to a different location every time they were used and none of the places they'd flung him to were outside of the no jack-out area. meaning it was 1.) try a endless combo of links until one randomly dropped him where he wanted to go 2.) walk on foot all the way back to the server entrance.

it was entirely likely this had been a last-ditch attempt on the Netnavi's part to escape Forte and he was in part to blame for his current predicament.

now, this all would have been deeply annoying yet managable. save for the fact that one particular Netnavi (whom Forte had renewed his vow he would one day see dead in the most painful fashion he could) had also chosen today of all days to enter the same area and accordingly, get stuck in it as well. hence:
]

Exactly what part of 'go away,' don't you understand.

[ Serenade was not taking any strong hint to leave Forte alone. the server entrance to this area of the Undernet suddenly seemed an extremely long way off. ]

R I P THIS AREA

[personal profile] undernetking 2016-06-02 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
[This wasn't usually an area Serenade would bother venturing into. He would have perhaps sent Darkman or Yamatoman and listened to their frustration later. However, both were currently busy with duties they'd assigned, which left the King no choice but to handle the situation.

And it was a situation serious enough to warrant an immediate response. A labyrinth, recently discovered by one of his underlings. Hard to access, glitchy and full of junk data obscuring almost any type of sensor or scanner available to Navis, but there were traces of something stored within. And Forte was seen making a beeline for the area.

Really, not the most pleasant of situations.

So there they were, trailing Forte as the destructive Navi attempted to navigate through the rage-inducing maze.
]

Ah, but when one is lost it is better to stay with a group. Two heads are better than one~

[Says the one who has so far done absolutely nothing to help progress through the maze.]

REST IN A MILLION SMOKING PIECES

[personal profile] earthbreaking 2016-06-04 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Forte turned his attention from said unpleasant situation (namely: trying to figure out whether or not he had seen this specific four-way intersection before or was it a different four-way intersection? because everything was annoyingly lacking in terms of digital landmarks, and why was it that this area had to be so ill-maintained that the trash data cluttering it up ruined any attempts to run a scan and map the area as he went to avoid doubling back on himself) to look sideways over his shoulder at Serenade, behind him.

he knew pointless teasing from the other Navi when he saw it, especially when the only contribution they've made since they've showed up is being no use towards the goal of getting out.
]

Oh, really. [ he scoffs as he floats along, hopping over a loose chunk of solid, discarded data lying in the path, and curtly slashes a hand through the air. ]

I don't need or want your help.

[ PLUS IT'S NOT LIKE THEY'RE ANY LESS LOST HERE THAN HE IS.

he faces forward again and stalks off into one of the passages of the labyrinth. the uhm, left one.

LMAO THREE MONTHS LATER

[personal profile] undernetking 2016-09-09 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
[Regardless of Forte's displeasure, Serenade follows along serenely, still smiling, almost as if to mock Forte's fruitless attempts to get them to leave.

Except, knowing the Navi, they probably were mocking Forte.
]

That's a shame. You won't progress very far on your own, as you may already notice. Sometimes one must swallow their pride and reach out if they ever hope to reach their goal.

[Of course, Serenade's going to use this as an opportunity to lecture Forte about teamwork even though they both know Forte's not going to listen at all.]

I CAN'T SHAME YOU I LEFT.... THE TAB OPEN FOR WEEKS BECAUSE I FORGOT TO TIDY UP UNFINISHED THREADS

[personal profile] earthbreaking 2016-09-09 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
Whip out a complete set of map data for this area.

[ B| ] Then I'll count it a shame.

[ addressing the comment to the air in front of him, Forte kept moving and refused to dignify what he was fully aware was the other Navi's said pointless mockery, by turning around to face them when they talked. talk to the back of his helmet, Serenade!

...

this again.
]

Perhaps it would serve one even better to not keep mouthing off.

[ sure am dismissing that lecture again. for the moment, Forte angrily accepts he's not going to be shaking Serenade off very soon. ]
undernetking: (tranquil)

LMAO AT LEAST YOU WEREN'T JUST STARING AT THE NOTIF IN YOUR INBOX FOR MONTHS IGNORING IT

[personal profile] undernetking 2016-09-10 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh, an actual response? Maybe they'll actually get somewhere today. Forte usually only deigned to respond to him with insults or ignoring them. Then again, he was refusing to face Serenade, much like a petulant child throwing a silent tantrum.]

Ah, but it would be quite boring to amble around in silence, would it not?

[Admission: they're just spouting shit to annoy Forte. Although, since Forte has no means of escaping them, they're kind of curious to see how far they can get with some serious talk.]

Is the idea of working with others so abhorrent that you would not spend even a second considering it?

SO IC. JUST LIKE SERENADE TO LEAVE FORTE HANGING

[personal profile] earthbreaking 2016-09-10 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
Quiet would be a welcome change. [ pause. ] My mistake. We can't have the Ruler bored now, can we... ?

[ Serenade didn't have a monoploy on saying sarcastic shit mainly to be rude. deciding making Serenade go away was an useless effort, when the task of finding a way out of the maze was at hand, hadn't lessened Forte's ire at them. and the familiar-by-now shittalking isn't decreasing it either. per Serenade's intention of bugging him. he wouldn't let them best him here.

almost carelessly:
]

I told you, I don't need it. You ask why I don't want to waste time debating to stoop to something I don't need?

[ if it's abhorrent, it's because it's also a common tactic for the weak who did need it to cover their own shortcomings instead of becoming strong on their own merits.

the passage bent in front of them to the left.
]
undernetking: (smile 1)

WELL THEY DON'T HAVE MAP DATA SO LIKE WHY BOTHER ANSWERING

[personal profile] undernetking 2016-09-10 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
So you understand!

[Not even going to deny it. They both know Serenade finds Forte quite amusing, after all. To the King, Forte is much like a little child trying to anger the other in manners that don't have their intended effect. Like pretending to ignore them, for instance.

Truly, an amusing spectacle.
]

Have you never been curious of the notion of friendship? Perhaps you don't need it, no... but you don't have to need something to want it.

[Serenade hums, turning their head to look at the stretch of path past the bend. More loops, dead ends, and redundant links as far as the eye can see. And thankfully, no closer to the power source dwelling deep within the broken network.]

For instance, you do not need to leave here to survive. You can simply stay here and be. But you want to leave, do you not?

FORTE WASN'T BEING SERIOUS HE WAS JUST BEING A DICK. ALSO ASSUMING SERENADE IS AS LOST AS HE IS RN

[personal profile] earthbreaking 2016-09-10 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[ a flare of temper, for you, and for whoever set up the auto-jump traps, and for how far off the server entrance felt like. ]

Tch! You need more people to tell you you're a pest.

[ ah, the days back when the degree to which Serenade is insufferable in their refusal to be daunted or driven off their fun had took Forte off guard. those had ended swiftly once they'd conversations lasted longer than 5 minutes.

(it makes sense to Forte, on one level. Serenade is strong despite their incomprehensibly foolish views so they've a right to have their way. except with Forte, obviously.)

he slows and crosses his arms, eyes narrowing ahead of him at the old, untended mess of a cyberarea sprawling out before the two Navis, before flicking back at them, head turning slightly to look behind him with the irate movement.
]

I'm not in the mood for playing your games, Serenade.
undernetking: (ominous look)

[personal profile] undernetking 2016-09-13 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Isn't that what you're here for?

[Forte you fill all of Serenade's insult-receiving quota, because heck if they ever get one to their face from any other person.

Serenade chuckles, knowing the destructive Navi's temper is flaring.
]

It's a shame you have no choice, isn't it?
